It starts before install day: we test the slab for moisture and hardness, because a coating over a wet or soft floor fails no matter how good the crew is. Then six steps in order, scrape-and-sand pass included — that is the one that makes the surface smooth underfoot.

How much does an epoxy garage floor cost in Austin?

What's the difference between Base Flake and Advanced Flake?
Chip size. Base Flake is Versatile® Blended Flake in 1/4" or 1/8" — the bold, high-contrast look most people picture. Advanced Flake is the 1/16" chip, which reads more like polished stone or terrazzo, sits tighter underfoot and takes noticeably more material to reach full coverage. Both tiers use the same 40 blends, so the colour choice is yours either way.
What flake colors can I choose from?
All 40 Versatile® Blended Flake colours, in any of the three chip sizes — Tuxedo, Saddle Tan, Granite, Cappuccino, Dakota Grey, Coastal Blue, Feather Gray, Stoney Creek and Sea Mist are the ones Austin homeowners pick most. We bring the full sample deck to every consult because flake photographs darker than it looks in a lit garage.
How long does the job take?
It depends on the size of the floor and the condition of the slab — grinding off a failed coating adds time, for example. We give you the schedule when we book, and we do not leave until every step is done properly, including the scrape-and-sand pass. Your crew tells you the exact window for foot traffic and for parking before they go.
Is this the same as the epoxy kit from the hardware store?
No. Big-box kits are thin, water-based epoxy over an acid-etched slab with no topcoat — which is why they lift with the first hot tire. We grind, use a commercial-grade epoxy base and finish with polyaspartic. If you already have a failed kit down, we grind it off first.
Will it yellow in the sun?
The polyaspartic topcoat is UV-stable, so no. Epoxy-only floors amber noticeably within a couple of Texas summers, especially in a garage that faces afternoon sun.
Do you coat more than garages?
Yes — patios, back porches, workshops, laundry and mud rooms, and commercial spaces like shops, showrooms and warehouses. The estimator is tuned for garages, so call us at 512-858-8517 for anything else and we will price it the same day.
What is a stem wall, and should I coat it?
The stem wall is the short strip of exposed concrete between your garage slab and the framing above it. Coating it costs $6 per linear foot and gives the floor a finished, sealed edge instead of a raw gray band around the room. Most customers add it.
